Mille Lire in Oak Lawn

Mille Lire is the most recent restaurant that Giant Sign was asked to provide exterior signage for by the designers at Coeval Studio. This Italian restaurant opening this fall at The Centrum in Oak Lawn (corners of Oak Lawn, Cedar Springs and Wellborn) “will be chef Giuliano’s nod to ‘la doce vita’ or ‘the sweet life’ of his childhood, but with new, inspired ingredients,”. Giant Sign was asked to fabricate and install two sets of Exposed Neon Channel Letters, one on each elevation facing the street. We used 3” deep channel letter coil; painting the cans inside out along with the trimcap the dark blue spec provided by Coeval. The neon used is a spurred single-stroked white neon which we also created clear faces for to protect from birds nesting and potential hail storms. Wiring access was a complicated issue on this one until the client’s agreed to cut access panels through granite ceilings, as they wanted the flush/direct mounted look. We also fabricated and install a 1/4″ brushed bronze flat cut aluminum letters pin-mounted to wall. In the end, the clients were happy with how these signs turned out.
