We were so honored when the DMA asked us to help them with their upcoming Margaret McDermott exhibition.  For those who do not know, Mrs. McDermott was 106 years old when she passed away in early May and along with being the “Guiding Light” of the Museum, “she was the single largest benefactor in the Museum’s history through her legendary gifts of art and endowment support”.  Giant Sign was asked to have the artwork produced and install the vinyl headers for each of the exhibition’s walls where her donated artwork will be exhibited in their upcoming exhibition opening in a few weeks.  Since we can’t show the artwork, we are showing just a couple examples of the headers completed.

Boston Scientific in San Jose California

Giant Sign was contracted by another sign company to fabricate and ship these Boston Scientific channel letters to the Bay Area to be installed in San Jose, CA.  These flush-mounted channel letters required us to digitally print and laminate a perforated vinyl for the faces while the aluminum returns and trimcap were also painted a specific metallic blue pantone provided by the client.  This sign large sign (over 9ft tall x 27ft wide) was then carefully packaged, crated and shipped to the client in SF along with a mounting pattern so they could complete the installation for the client in San Jose, CA.

Texas Tech University & Texas Tech Credit Union in Irving

We were asked by Texas Tech University to fabricate and install a total of four of these signs (2 sets each) for their new location in Irving, Tx.  To maintain their stringent logo requirements, this required us fabricating and installing the smallest channel lighted channel letters we’ve made thus far (around 4” in height).  We ran into an unseen horizontal I-beam spanning the middle of their sign band during installation that required us to change the installation plan.  We quickly created low profile wireways (painted to match the building), so that we could pre-wire these small letters and still position them properly to maintain the spacing required within their logo designs.  The internal structure of the wall presenting wiring work arounds and parking challenges requiring the use of installation on ladders for 2 of the sign sets, slowed down our efficiency during the installation; but we labored through, ultimately pleasing the client with the completed signage by their deadline for opening the store
